Your Golf Swing Will Improve With Great Posture
By Jeffrey Veal
Having good posture during your golf swing is one of the many elements that can affect correct execution. If you have been playing golf for some time, then this it not new to you. First off, let's look at the stance. Keeping your shoulders in line with your upper torso and not hunched over is a start. Also, your feet need to be spaced accordingly to the length of the club you are using. Closer together for shorter clubs, and more spaced apart for your longer clubs. A slight bend in the knees is ideal, with your arms slightly bent and in line with the golf club. This causes your front arm to be straight in line with your shoulders when you begin your back swing. It is important that you're not hunched over at the shoulders, as this can affect this part of the swing.
You would be hard pressed to find a knowledgeable golfer who would not agree that having great posture is a must for attaining the correct golf swing. There are some things that you can do even away from the golf course to help improve your posture. Try to keep your shoulders squared in everything your do, from walking, sitting, and so forth. You'll be amazed what this can do for your golf swing. Practicing your golf stance with a club in front of a mirror is another thing you can do. Watch the pro's address the ball, because you won't see them all hunched over before they swing. Get in the habit of good posture off the course, and it will start to become natural when you are on the course.
One good exercise to help with your golf posture is to have your arms behind your back, lock your knees, and stand straight up with your feet spaced out even with your shoulders. Look straight in front of you, lean forward until you feel a little bit of tension in your lower back and hamstrings. Then, keeping your balance, bend your knees slightly. Next, allow your arms to dangle in front of you like a rope. Your posture should be in the proper position to swing the club. Some light stretching before this exercise will make it less difficult.
The majority of folks that just play golf for leisure never think about their posture and how it relates to their golf swing. Strive to have better posture every time you line up to hit the ball, and you'll start noticing how much better your swing gets. After a while, it will become second nature to position your feet, shoulders and arms correctly before you attempt your swing. Just remember, having good posture is just as important off the golf course as it is on the golf course. It is not a miracle cure for some swing flaws that you may have developed, but it is a good starting point in the pursuit of a proper golf swing. Once your posture is on track, then you can work on other parts of your swing.

Why does Tiger Woods golf swing look so easy?
Well I know the obvious answers...he has been swinging a golf club since he was a little boy...yeah, yeah, yeah...true...
but really why is Tiger's Golf Swing so Smooth?
Practice, Practice Practice...with enough practice your body develops what they call muscle memory and it will continue...one of the things that I believe works the best is to do it when you are tired, and then do it some more.
Practice makes perfect...but you don't want to practice bad habits either...so just like Tiger, he has a coach...so get yourself a coach, read some book on the perfect golf swing and then you are off to erase strokes on your score.

Golf Swing Tip - Dress In Your Sunday Best to Stay Connected
By Kris G Ruiter
The fashion of golf has certainly evolved over the years hasn't it? I mean the suit jackets of the Bobby Jones era, the 1970's (say no more), and those terrible stiff collared shirts of the 80's. But now...we have Under Armour, Nike Dri-Fit, or Adidas Climacool, amongst a host of others that keep us dryer, cooler, and allow us to swing freer than ever before. Clothes are not fashion anymore...they are equipment.
This article is about turning the oldest golf clothing, or your best suit into reliable golf equipment. I am going to take your suit jacket and turn it into a training aid that will help you improve both your long game and your short game.
What is the number one complaint we have when we put on a suit?
It's too restrictive.
I can't move.
What is the number one thing you hear on TV and in golf magazines about a consistent golf swing?
You must stay connected.
Your arms must stay connected to your body.
Well what does that mean...stay connected? It basically means that your arms won't outrace your body. Another way to think about it is that we don't want to let air into our armpits. It is a very hard thing to feel unless you work on it in a drill. So the irony is that a restrictive suit will help your game by keeping you connected.
There are several different drills out there that will help get this feeling. However, I like to provide tips that you can work on from the comfort of your home or office. That way you can practice everyday, even if you don't have time to get to the range.
This drill is so simple because it is about getting a feeling for how your arms should stay with your body.
Put on your suit jacket.
Take your golf stance.
Make your back swing until you get to the set swing position. (Left arm parallel to the ground.) For a full lesson on the set swing please click here.
Make your downswing and stop when your right arm is parallel to the ground on your follow through.
Repeat as often as you like.
The reason this drill helps get the proper feeling is that we don't want our arms to stray away from our body. If they do they won't work together and it makes it much harder to have great timing. Great timing is very important for any player trying to have a consistent golf swing.
This also helps your short game because staying connected is very important when you are playing pitch shots. Your suit will not let your arms move away from your body, which makes it easier to for your arms and body to travel at the same speed. This makes a huge difference in the crispness of your pitches.

Simple Golf Swing
By Travis Liu
Not everyone was born with the ability to swing the club like the pros. There are so many people wasting their time learning a swing they’ll never be able to play effectively with.
There are many golf courses that deal more with course management and trouble shots than it does about the mechanics of the golf swing.
You need a system designed for everyone, regardless of physical ability, could pick up the club and actually complete the swing effectively.
“The Simple Golf Swing” places less stress on lower back because it is taught with a shortened backswing. This leads to solid impact and more consistency, with less stress on the body.
Learning conventional swing takes hours of practice and not everyone has that kind of time. If your goal is to learn how to effectively use a wrist cock at the top of your backswing or to transfer your weight through the impact zone correctly, this would require years of practice.
However, you can also learn this in a short amount of time. Focus on the fundamentals that will get the club back to where it started, get it there square and get it there fast. The weight transfer still occurs, but it happens subconsciously due to the correct actions made during the backswing and downswing.
You will still be moving forward through the ball at impact, but you will not be moving away from the target when completing your backswing. This will help to eliminate fat shots, topping the ball, and of center shots.
The wrist cock will occur naturally, but it will no longer be necessary to think about it.

Golf’s Open Championship boosts economic growth
Golf’s Open Championship boosts economic growth
Tue, 26/02/2008 - 10:09
Events United Kingdom Event Management Golf
The 2007 Open Golf Championship at Carnoustie contributed £14 million to the local economy.
This is just one of the findings from a recent economic impact assessment undertaken by Comperio Research – the research division of IMG. The study was commissioned by both Angus Council and Scottish Enterprise, in a bid to understand the extent to which hosting The Open Championship boosted overall economic growth in Carnoustie, and the surrounding areas.
The Open takes place annually on one of nine historic golf courses in the UK. The 2007 event was held at Carnoustie in the Scottish county of Angus, and played from July 19 to July 22.
Comperio’s research incorporated an evaluation of the media exposure generated through the event, as well as an in-depth analysis of all income derived from spectators, contractors, corporate hospitality guests and the Media.
Further interesting findings uncovered by the research are:
- The Open contributed £26 million to the overall Scottish economy.
- The Open is a major tourist draw, as only 4 per cent of spectators were residents of the Angus region, with the remainder travelling in from other areas in Scotland (51 per cent), the rest of the UK (30 per cent) and overseas (15 per cent).
- Overseas visitors stayed in the area longer than national visitors, averaging five nights versus two nights, and they spent 4.5 times as much money.
- More than half of the respondents interviewed, stated that their experience of visiting The 2007 Open would make them more likely to visit Scotland again.
- Television coverage that included scenic and graphic reference to the Angus countryside totalled 171 hours of exposure, equivalent to a gross advertising value of some £34 million. Nearly half of this was generated in North America.
Commenting on the research project, David Valentine, Head of Economic Development at Angus Council said: “This is the seventh time that Carnoustie has staged the Open Championship. We were already aware of the economic benefits, but we felt we needed some hard facts and figures to help us understand the true worth of the event and to inform a variety of tourism strategies and programmes. This is why we chose to work with Comperio, who, having conducted a baseline economic impact assessment for the 2005 Open at St Andrews, were best placed to undertake this assignment for us. The intelligence they have delivered has certainly helped us appreciate how the event drives tourism and stimulates various revenue streams in both the local and national economy.
We now plan to leverage this newly acquired insight to ensure we maximise the positive impact of future events and in developing our strategy for Carnoustie Country – one of the best known golf destination brands within the UK. There is clearly potential for Carnoustie Country’s splendid range of golf tourism products to play a key role in the development of Scotland’s economy and we intend to exploit every opportunity”.
~Finially someone values the value of marketing and research...I know there alot of people in the sales industry that just try to wing it...doesn't it make since to do research?...#1 it will keep people coming back next time you have the event and #2 they will be impress with all the new things...and all because you went the extra step and evaluated yourself and your event with an outside influence. Now that is a MIND for GROWTH!!!
